Meet Our 2021 Leadership Council

Safe Families for Children of Central Indiana (SFFCCI) is excited to announce we have selected our 2021 Leadership Council! What is a Leadership Council? A team of Christian men and women external to SFFCCI that will surround us in prayer, support and accountability. They will provide leadership advice, fundraising support and innovative, strategic thinking. The Leadership Council will work closely with SFFCCI’s Director, Lanna Blanchard, as we move forward as a church-led, volunteer-driven movement.

Get to know our Leadership Council by reading their profiles below, which include their connection with Safe Families and/or why they felt called to serve (listed in alphabetical order):

Debbie Baldwin is the former President of Kaleo. She has been a long-time supporter of Safe Families and is grateful God has called her to be on the Leadership Council because Safe Families lovingly cares for vulnerable children while also helping placing parents take important steps to improve their lives. Debbie’s favorite verse is Colossians 3:17, “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.”

Conner Bland is the Founder of Terra Capital. He and his wife, Kaitlyn, have been hosts and supporters of Safe Families since 2014. They believe deeply in the passion and mission of Safe Families for Children to enter into the space of the vulnerable child to bring Jesus’s love, hospitality, stability and support to families in crisis. Conner is eager to serve Safe Families in the role of Leadership Council member with vision and diligence. Conner’s favorite verses are Ephesians 2:4-6, “But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—”.

Chris Haynes is a Financial Services Professional at MassMutual Midwest. He and his wife, Tara, felt called to engage in the Kingdom work of serving children and families in crisis, just as God has brought us into His family and showed us love and acceptance. His family had the honor of being the first host family of Safe Families for Children of Central Indiana in 2008. Since then, Chris’s family has hosted 16 children in their home. Chris’s favorite verse is Galatians 6:9, “So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.”

Jennifer Manning is an Executive Coach and Business Consultant with over 20 years working within large companies in the corporate sector. She and her husband, Brian are the very proud parents of two boys, Oliver and Asher. They became involved with Safe Families as they have a deep desire to serve those in need. Jennifer’s heart for this work began when she was a child, as her father ran homes for abused and neglected children. She is extremely passionate about helping families stay together and parents get the help they need to be fully engaged with their children. Jennifer serves Safe Families as a Host Family, Family Coach, and Leadership Council Member. Her drive and strength comes from the Lord and Jennifer leans on the Word, particularly Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” and Philippians 4:6 ” Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

Robin MacKinnon’s involvement with Safe Families started over 10 years ago with their first placement as a host family.  Since then, Robin and her husband Christian have hosted dozens of kids, through Safe Families and Refugee foster care. Robin started her career in the education and corporate sector working as the Executive Director for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Indiana.  Once kids came along, she made the decision to step down from her position at Make-A-Wish and become a stay-at-home mom while maintaining part-time consultant and speaking roles with non-profits, mission organizations, and affinity groups.  Her specializations include coaching, interactive adult learning, and fluency in Spanish. Robin is active as a catalyst leader in her church, Soma Midtown, and serves as Coordinator of the Welcome Home team, a division of Pour House, Inc. in Indianapolis. Her favorite things include hot tea, Birkenstocks, dining outside, and her 5 amazing children. Her passion is to help others live extraordinary lives and she loves to spend time in deep conversation motivated by Proverbs 20:5 – The purposes of a person’s heart are deep waters, but one who has insight draws them out!

We want to thank each Leadership Council member for agreeing to volunteer their time to ensure we serve families in a God-centered way! Thank you for sharing your time and God-given gifts!
